What problems are Just By Here trying to solve?

We’re all familiar with shopping apps, whether they are for books, food, whatever. But they have a few problems. If it’s one of the big resellers, then it diverts money away from the local community into a company that’s likely offshored. If it’s an app acting as an intermediary, local resellers do get local business – but at a cost. These apps charge a pretty punitive commission, which forces them to up prices and/or earn less money. Research shows that 63% of people prefer to shop locally and 71% are willing to – but of course it’s easier to just use an app. What’s needed is an app that lets people buy anything locally and takes a fraction of the commission of other apps. Won’t people just carry on using the apps they already use?

Sure. But that doesn’t stop them using another. Just By Here is different. People can find anything local, in one search. They might want a bottle of wine – they just search for ‘wine’ and they’ll get results from all businesses nearby, in one go. They can search for food, a hairdressing appointment, hardware, a new tyre for their car, you name it. They can book an appointment with a plumber as easily as they can buy a new shirt. All manner of goods and services, all via one app.

Why would resellers sign up?

We don’t try to ‘own’ the customer. Our commission is very low. We provide everything they need – the app, a point-of-sale system and a sales dashboard. Free. We even help them load their first products and services. We encourage them to build relationships with their customers. They can see on their app who has visited their store and make personalised one-to-one offers or chat. Why wouldn’t they sign up?

If the commission is low, why would I invest?
